Each year, a large number of American families make the decision to take a family vacation. Is your family planning on becoming one of those families? If so, do you know where you want to go? Although there is a good chance that you may want to stay in the United States, there is also a chance that you would like to travel to a foreign country. Not only could it be a fun and exciting vacation, but it could also be a learning experience for your kids.

Once you and your family have decided that a visit to a foreign country is just the way that you want to spend your next family vacation, you will have to start making travel arrangements.  This most commonly includes choosing a final vacation destination, booking airline reservations, and overnight hotel accommodations.  After these travel arrangements have been made, you will need to wait for the “big day,” to arrive. However, once that day comes, it is important to remember that you are traveling with children. For that reason, extra accommodations may need to be made.

Perhaps, is it best if you determine what these accommodations are before your flight is scheduled to take off. In fact, it is advised that you start preparing for your trip early, especially if you are traveling with children. This is because, when it comes to international flights, the preparation, even for children, is different than domestic flights.  You will find that, in most cases, the guidelines and procedures change. For starters, the proof of identification that they will need drastically changes.

When minor children fly on domestic flights, they do not need to show identification, if they are traveling with a parent or a guardian. Often times, proof of a parent’s identification is enough; however, it is not enough on international flights. Depending on where you are traveling to, you will find that your child may need to have a passport. If your child does not already have a passport, they will need to get one.  This process could take a few days, or even a few weeks.  While arranging your child’s passport, is also advised that ensure that yours is valid as well.

In addition to having the proper forms of identification, for international flights, you will also find that your child or children must go through the same security screening as everyone else. This means that they will have their carryon luggage, as well as their checked baggage thoroughly examined. This examination may include an x-ray screening or a hand check.  Should a problem arise, they will likely be pulled aside, like any other passenger. The only difference is that you should be able to accompany them, if and when this does occurs.

In international airports, passenger screening is just as important as baggage screening. For that reason, your child, no matter what their age, will also have to be checked out. This mostly entails removing their shoes and walking through a metal detector. In the event that the alarm sounds, your child will likely be subject to additional screening. However, it is important to note that this additional screening is required and it is the same that all other passengers will go through, if need be.

The above mentioned situations are just a few of the many that you will have to prepare for if you are flying internationally with a child.  The rules, restrictions, and guidelines that you must follow tend to vary from international airport to airport, as well as with airlines.  Although many of these rules are the same, there are some differences. All international airports are given the ability to add-on their own air travel rules, if they choose to do so. For that reason, it is advised that you directly contact the international airline that you will be flying with or the international airport that you will be leaving from, for additional information.

Each year, a large number of individuals, couples, and families make the decision to travel to Mexico.  Most have visited Mexico before.  If you are planning a Mexico vacation, and you have never been there before, you may have some concerns.  You may be wondering what places are safe for you to visit.

Mexico is like all other countries.  There are areas that are known as tourists attractions and then there are other areas that tourists are advised to stay away from.  You can easily learn about these areas online.  Researching every city and town in Mexico is a long and daunting process.  To save time and a costly vacation mistake, you are encouraged to examine the benefits of taking a guided Mexico tour.

Perhaps the greatest benefit of booking a guided tour in Mexico is that you will be with a local who is familiar with the area. Guided tours are held in areas that are considered safe.  In addition to showing you around certain areas of Mexico, your tour guide may be able to offer you additional travel tips and suggestions. These suggestions may help you with your vacation after your guide has ended.

If you are interested in taking a guided Mexican tour, you will have to find the tour company which you wish to do business with. There are a large nubmer of guided tour companies in the area.  If you do not have a preference as to which company you’d like to tour with, you may want to first search for a destination.  The destination you select will be important in determining what you will learn and see while on a guided tour.

Many guided tours take place in Cooper Canyon, the Oaxaca Mountains, the Yucatan Peninsula and Baja.  In Mexico, Baja is most known for its water activities.  Many popular guided tours include whale watching and kayaking. Whether you set out to watch the whales or you select a kayaking tour, you are sure to see Gray whales.  Many times, they will come right up to your boat, making for great pictures or video footage.

Cooper Canyon and the Oaxaca Mountains are guided tours that are ideal for those that love to hike.  To participate in these tours, it is advised that you receive the proper health clearance.  You tour will likely follow trails, but much of the terrain can be rough. The Yucatan Peninsula is ideal for travelers who wish to learn more about the ancient history of Mexico.

The above mentioned destinations in Mexico are just a few of the many.  Guided tours are found all across Mexico.  If there is particular topic or activity that interests you, you are sure to find a guided tour that will offer you excitement.  Hikers often select a hiking tour, boats often opt for boat tours, and history lovers often select tours that focus on the history of Mexico.

In addition to selecting where you’d like to go on a guided tour, you will also need to determine how long you’d like that tour to be.  In Mexico, guided tours can last as long as one day or over one week.  You should easily be able to determine how long a guided tour is by looking at the price.  Weeklong guided tours can cost thousands of dollars, but most of your accommodations are taken care of.  Some guided tours can be considered all-inclusive vacations.

Journey Mexico, Siesta Tours, and Ufly Mexico are three of the most well-known guided tour companies in Mexico.  You can examine the tours found by these three companies by visiting their online websites or by requesting free travel brochures.  If you are interested in finding additional tours, your local travel agent may be able to offer you assistance.

By selecting a guided tour of Mexico, you do not always have to be looking over your shoulder.  Vacationing in a safe area with an experienced tour guide is about as carefree as your Mexico vacation can get.

Everyone looks forward to family reunions – and who  doesn’t love Disneyland? You can bring the two  together by having your family reunion at the happiest  place on earth. It is really easier than you might think  to arrange this!

Start by calling the Disneyland Vacation Planning  Services Department. Let them help you book rooms  at the Resort hotels, and admission tickets to the park.  You should be able to get discounts on the tickets by  purchasing them in bulk.

The specific service that you need to accommodate  all of your family members is the ‘Happiest Place on  Earth Picnic.’ This service is offered year round, and  includes admission to the park for your entire party.  You also get a choice of fully catered meals for the  event. For 100 – 300 people, your event can be held  at Big Thunder Ranch. For 300 – 1000 people, the  event will be held at the Festival Arena.

If there are less than 100 people in your party, you  may not be eligible for the catering services. This is  at the sole discretion of Disneyland, and you will  need to discuss this with Guest Services or the  Planning Services Departments. If catering is not  available, reservations in the many restaurants can  be made instead.

You may be able to get a discount on your family  member’s rooms at the Resorts as well, if you book  well in advance, hold your event during the off-season,  and book a block of rooms. Airline tickets for those  who will need to fly to Disneyland should also be  purchased well in advance, and in bulk for additional  discounts.

Again, allow Disneyland Vacation Planning Services  to help you with the arrangements, and use a travel  agent to handle any arrangements that planning  services doesn’t cover. For best results, choose one  family member to work with the planning services  and the travel agent, and relay information back and  forth between the services and the family members.  Having one person collecting and sharing information  will cut down on a great deal of confusion and  misinformation when you are trying to make travel  arrangements for a large number of people.

It may take work and planning, but in the end, this  will be one family reunion that will never be forgotten.  Talk with the Vacation Planning Services Department  to find out what other services are available to make  this an even more special experience for you and  your family members. The Surprise services would  be a nice touch!
